How Good Are Hubpage Links?
HubPages – ‘nofollow’ and ‘dofollow’ links
The main appeal for HubPages among SEO companies and Digital Marketers is that it allows you to place links within each Hub you create, linking back to the website they are attempting to promote within the Search Engine Results Pages. We all know that Google loves links, so creating a couple of Hubs and adding a couple of links seems like an easy way to build up your linkbuilding campaign.
As we all know there are two types of links, ‘dofollow’ (the one’s Google pays attention too)and ‘nofollow’ (these are the one’s Google either completely disregards, or pays very little attention too). Obviously the one we all hanker after is the ‘dofollow’ link, which will provide lots of ‘link love’ for our site.
However what isn’t advertised so clearly on HubPages is the fact that most links will start off as ‘nofollow’. Hubpages has made it this way to avoid spammers and internet marketers from filling the site with rubbish Hubs just to get their links, they want good quality Hubs that people will enjoy reading, and one way of ensuring this is to make you have to work harder to receive a ‘dofollow’ link.
So, how do you achieve the illusive ‘dofollow’ link we all crave?
- Achieve a HubScore of 40 or higher – To do this ensure that your Hub is well written and has good quality content, it is also a good idea to make sure your Hub is at least 450 words long. Add some pictures and other elements to your Hub such as a You Tube video. Also check your spelling and grammer before publishing your Hub.
- Achieve an author HubRank of 75 or higher – This is a little harder to do than getting your HubScore up, to increase your HubRank you will need to create around 10 Hubs, that cover a range of subjects and all achieve a good Hub Score. You will also need to be active within HubPages by reading other peoples Hubs and commenting on them, you will also need to follow people who’s Hub’s are relevant to your own, and comment on their content regularly.
If you follow these tips it will most likely take around a month to raise your stats high enough and start receiving the ‘dofollow’ link.
It is also important to remember that it’s not enough just getting your HubScore and HubRank to the correct levels then relaxing, you have to maintain your scores above 40 and 75 to keep your ‘dofollow’ links.
So, as you can see, HubPages does not provide the easy links we all thought it did, there is a lot of work involved, and it will be time consuming, but if you have the time to do it then you will be rewarded with some good quality links.
